The development of NIR and solid-state fluorescent dyes are essential for the innovations in the biomedicine and material science. We are synthetic Chemists. The research in our group involves the fine-tuning of the photophysical properties of the BODIPY chromophore to achieve the desired optical properties, for example, the long wavelength NIR absorption/emission and strong solid-state fluorescence.

One of our primary research interest is to create synthetic innovations for the facile fine-tuning of the optical properties of BODIPY chromophore.

Design and synthesis of novel ligands for the preparation of novel organo-boron complexes with desired optical properties, for example, NIR and solid-state fluorescent organo-boron complexes.

We evaluate the structural features, stability, photophysical, chemical properties and the potential applications of these resultant dyes, for example in bio-imaging, molecular/ion sensing, or as sensitizers for the photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancers.
